About Hemorrhoids, its Symptoms & Treatment

Hemorrhoids are conditions where there is a swelling of the veins around the veins. The veins may be inflammed sometimes.

Hemorrhoids can be internal or external. Internal hemorrhoids are found inside the anus or the rectum and the external is found external to the anus or rectum but near them. The internal hemorrhoid may sometime protrude and it is called protruding hemorrhoid.

Hemorrhoids are caused due to straining in moving the stool. Factors like pregnancy, aging, diarrhea and even anal intercourse contributing to the formation of hemorrhoids.

Sometimes other anorectal problems are mistakenly diagnosed as hemorrhoids, hence it is advisable to consult a medical practitioner to diagonise it correctly. A painful swelling can be a symptom of external hemorrhoid. If bright red blood is found covering the stool or in the toilet paper or bowl then it could be the symptom of internal hemorrhoid.

Sometimes internal hemorrhoids may protrude through the anus and it may be more irritating and painful. Such condition is called the protruding hemorrhoid.

Treating hemorrhoids is to treat the symptoms of hemorrhoids and in worst cases other types of treatment is taken. To reduce the symptoms a person can take tub baths several times a day in plain and warm water for about 10 minutes.

Application of hemorroidal creams may also help in treating it. An increase in fiber and fluid content in your diet will help you in controlling the hemorrhoids and even preventing them from occurring.

Right amount of fiber content and around 6 to 8 glasses of water will result in softer and bulkier stools which makes emptying the bowels easier. This helps in eliminating the straining to move the stools and preventing protuding hemorrhoids.
