Cant Stop Smoking, Start Drinking Tea...
Let me start off by saying, that this is not an article about how to stop smoking. In a way, it is quite the opposite. Whether it is a pipe, cigar, or cigarettes, some of us have found that we are smokers. Maybe you have attempted to quit, and...

Do You Really Want To Stop Smoking? Or Do You Use The Weight Gain Excuse?
I do not smoke, never have, and admit to being one of those 'pain in the butts' (OK, bad pun!) that go on about the foul stench, and anti-social behaviour of smokers, especially in public places. You can imagine my joy when one of my local pubs...

Exercise And Quitting Smoking
When you plan to stop smoking, bring about other changes in your life style as well. Take a look at all those things that have become a kind of routine and break that routine. Try to do things differently and will make a lot of difference. What we...

Cut your smoking in half or more instantly!

You want to quit smoking but you can't stand the thought of losing your best friend the cigarette. So make that friend your enemy and then it will be easy.
You don't need patches or pills or gum to quit smoking. All they do is relieve you of the nicotine dependency. That's the easiest part of quitting. It is said that you will be over the nicotine withdrawal in about 72 hours.
The rest of quitting is the longing for your friend. This is the part that you never get over. This is also the reason why many people find it impossible to stay quit.
It's like the grieving you feel when you lose a loved one. The problem is, all you have to do is buy a pack of cigarettes and you will be happy again. You have your friend back.
So how are you going to make this great friend into an enemy? Well it's pretty easy but you have to be willing to stick with it for a couple weeks. Don't give in.
Make smoking as inconvenient as possible.
You can start with the obvious and decide you will no longer smoke in your house and your car. This is often too easy of a rule to break though. All you have to do is change your mind or do it just this once. This is the reason why you have never been able to quit before. You change your rules and give in to yourself.
You could throw away all you ashtrays and fill the ashtray in the car with hard candy. Again, if you decide not to stick with this it is so easy to buy more ashtrays and dump the candy out.
You could buddy up with a friend and vow to quit together. The problem here is you will probably end up cheating and this will make you feel like you let your friend down. (He or she will be in the same boat).
So what do you do? Well first of all, don't quit. Just smoke less for a while. If you tell yourself you are quitting, all those sad emotions are going to make you change your mind. So don't quit.
You will eventually want to quit once you make your cigarettes out to be the enemy but for now, you are not quitting. For now you are just smoking less.
OK, so here is the information you have been waiting for...
Why do you smoke so much? It's because your cigarettes are sitting right there. You probably smoke many cigarettes you aren't even aware of. You just grab your pack and light one up. By the time you are putting it out, you are thinking about grabbing another one. Maybe not consciously but subconsciously you are planning your next smoke.
So quit making it so easy to smoke. Put your cigarettes in the other room. Put them in the trunk of your car. Put them somewhere very inconvenient. When you decide to smoke, you will have to put an effort into smoking not just mindlessly smoke.
If you have already made the rule about no smoking in your house and are sticking to that rule, you are probably disappointed with this article so far. Well, keep reading.
The main idea here is you have to make smoking a problem. Make it a job, so to speak. If you make it hard enough to smoke, you will eventually dislike smoking altogether. Your cigarettes will be more of an inconvenience than a friend.
Take your pack of cigarettes and wrap them in foil. Put that foil package in a ziplock bag. Put that ziplock bag in a plastic grocery bag and tie it up. Store this bag on the top shelf in the back of your closet. Do the same with your lighter or matches except store it in the basement. Now when you want a cigarette, you will have to work to get one.
Get one cigarette out and re-do the whole package. Put the package back where it belongs. Go get your lighter or matches, light your cigarette and put the lighter back in its package and storage spot. DO IT! Don't say you will do it later. Do it right now!
Next time you want a cigarette, you will have to start all over again. This is going to accomplish two things. First of all, you will smoke much less due to the big ordeal just to smoke one cigarette. Second, you will start to despise those cigarettes for making you work so hard.
The longer you keep this routine, the more you will avoid smoking. Soon, cigarettes won't be that great friend you thought they were. Gradually, you will train your subconscious to not enjoy smoking. Some day you will just want to quit. Those pain in the neck cigarettes will be too much of a bother to worry about.
This will work. It worked for me and many other people I told about it. Just remember you have to stick with it. You don't have to quit smoking; you just have to be very orderly about your cigarette storage.
